Elbridge Gerry MacKenzie Sr.

Elbridge Gerry MacKenzie Sr., 96, of Anderson died on September 7, 2012 at Meadowbrooke Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness.
He was born on February 6, 1916 in Great Bend, Kansas to Scott and Martha (Murrey) MacKenzie.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II and Korean War.
He earned his PhD from Washington University. He was a Professor at Anderson University for 31 years and retired in 1980.
He was a member of Park Place Church of God and Phi Beta Kappa Fraternity.
He is survived by his wife, Marie (McMillian) MacKenzie of Anderson whom he married on July 19, 1941 in Springfield, MO., 2 sons, Robert (wife, Mary) MacKenzie of East Carondelet, IL and Elbridge Gerry (Wife, Sharon) MacKenzie Jr. of Granite City, IL; 4 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Scott and Galen MacKenzie.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 2:00pm with Dr. David Markle and Rev. Phil Bruzzese officiating. The visitation will be from 12 Noon to 2:00pm on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at the funeral home.
A burial will take place at a later date in East Maplewood Cemetery.
