Iris Maxine (Beaman) Graybiel
February 19, 1918- February 19, 2011

Iris Maxine (Beaman) Graybiel 93, life long Anderson resident, died February 19, 2011, at Bethany Pointe Health Campus in Anderson following an extended illness.

She was born on February 19, 1918 in Anderson to Joshua L. and Susanna (Wyatt) Beaman. She was a 1936 graduate of Anderson High School. She was employed by Delco Remy Division of General Motors for 40 years retiring in 1976. She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Meg March Club, Lady Elks, ABWA, UAW Local 662, Delco Remy Fellowship, Edgewood Country Club, and the Friday Morning Breakfast Club. She enjoyed sewing, traveling, working crossword puzzles, and playing bingo.

She married Charles H. Graybiel on May 1, 1937. He preceded her in death on March 17, 1982.

Survivors include 3 children, Susanna (Robert) Degitz of New Palestine, IN, Charles Hugh (Carol) Graybiel of Anderson, and Lissa G. (Duane) Julius of Noblesville; 10 Grandchildren: Julia Anne (Scott) Newell, Mark Francis (Shawna) Degitz, Timothy Thomas (Janine) Degitz, Andrew Jerome (Kathleen) Degitz, Cheryl Maureen (Paul) Cherry, Mary Elizabeth (Steve) Schilke, Marjorie Jane (Steve) Rau, Melissa Anne (Larry) Thompson, Charles Wilkinson Graybiel, and Derek Charles (Timothy A. Johnson) Julius; 20 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joshua L. and Susanna (Wyatt) Beaman; husband, Charles H. Graybiel; and 11 brothers and sisters.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Bethany Pointe Health Campus for their loving care and friendship.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, February 25, 2011 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church at 11am with Revs. Edward Dhondt and Robert Williams officiating with entombment taking place in East Maplewood Cemetery. The visitation will take place from 4:00-7:00pm Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to St. Ambrose Elementary School.
