Marguerite F. “Midge” (Herlihy) Sorey 64 years of Brockton died Tuesday evening in the Brockton Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of Edward C. Sorey.Mrs. Sorey was born in Boston daughter of the late Richard and Antoinette (Proto) Herlihy and was raised and educated in Dorchester. For the past 25 years she has been a resident of Brockton.
Mrs. Sorey had been a hostess at the Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge for several years. She was a trainer of show dogs, in particular Rottweiller and Maltese breeds, and participated in various shows throughout the New England area. She was a member of the American Kennel Club and won numerous medals for her dogs.
In addition to her husband of 36 years she is survived by a son Tony Coe of Middleboro. She was the step mother of Edward Sorey of Everett and Robin Sorey of Haverhill. She is survived by a brother Richard Herlihy of Middleboro, a sister Annette Herlihy of California and many nieces and nephews.She was the step mother of the late Dennis Sorey.
A Memorial Service will be held at the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont, Brockton Saturday at 11 am. The Rev. Gordon Postill of Old Colony Hospice will officiate.
