Jack Leonard Songer

Jack Leonard Songer, 80, of Anderson died on April 8, 2011 at Community Northview Care Center after an extended illness.
He was born on May 5, 1930 in Anderson, IN to Leslie Von and Rosa (Little) Songer-Gooding.
He served as a Sergeant in the US Marine Corp during the Korean War.
He worked as a licensed Mechanic at General Motors for 37 years.
Survivors include his son, Terry (Melinda) Songer of Moore, OK; Daughter, Tamara Songer of Anderson; 3 Sisters, Jenny Frazier of Frankton, Bonnie Etsler of Anderson, and Rosetta (Jim) Downing of Marion; 2 brothers-in-law, Harold Dalton and Robert H. Dalton; 2 Sister-in-laws, Dorothy Singer and Faye Harmon; 5 grandchildren, Jason (Lyndee) Songer, Justin (Haiah) Songer, Jeffrey Songer, Jared Songer, and Jarryl Songer; 2 Great-Grandchildren, Avriella Songer and Bryce Songer; and Several Nieces and Nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Songer; father, Leslie Von Songer; Mother, Rosa Songer-Gooding; Brother, Joe Songer; Step-father, Clifford Gooding.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful staff at Community Northview Care Center and Southern Care Hospice, his nieces, Peggy Trueblood and Vicki Scott, his brothers-in-law, Harold Dalton and Robert Dalton, and to his Pastor Mark Diemer of the Alexandria Church of the Nazarene for their loving care and kindness.
Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 11:00am at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Mark Diemer officiating. The burial will take place at East Maplewood Cemetery with military rites being conducted by the VFW Honor Guard Post 266.
The visitation will be on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service.
Memorial contributions may be given to Alexandria Church of the Nazarene and Southern Care Hospice.
