Douglas B. Beck, 62 of Anderson died at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 following brief illness.

He was born in Meridian, Mississippi to Edward and Corrine (Overstreet) Beck.

He graduated from Anderson High School in 1968 and attended Ball State and I.U.

He worked production at Delphi for 29 years before retiring in 1997.

He was a member of Progressive Temple of Faith of Anderson.


He is survived by his 2 children: James T. Reed of Indianapolis and Chinnita Reed of Muncie, stepchildren: Dawn Cottrell-Wilson and William Cottrell, 1 grandson Roy Kimbrough, Jr. of Muncie, step-grandchildren: Ashley Brooks, Aris Streaty, Marcus Cottrell, Christopher Cottrell, Allegra Odoms, Douglas Odoms, Jr. and Adriana Odoms, seven step great grandchildren, 3 sisters Linzie Gene Beck-Harris (companion Houston Crawford), Nancy Cooper, Lillie (Louis) Rush of Florida, 2 brothers Norman Beck of Davenport, Iowa, David Cooper of Deerfield, Fl, 5 step-sisters: Edna (James) Williams, Francis (Willie) Young, Deerfield, FL; Fannie (Albert) Young of Deerfield, FL; Joan Hopper of Deerfield, FL; Elvita (Elijah) McFern, 3 step-brothers James Cooper of Deerfield, FL; Henry Cooper of Deerfield, FL; John Edwards, several nieces, nephews, and cousins, great aunt Gertrude Beck of Dayton, OH; aunts Gladis Beck of Davenport, IA; Ethel Holland of Meridian, MS, Addie Overstreet, Detroit, MI; Ruby (Ronald) Winford, Arethea Jackson, Seretha (Shellie) Foard Sr., uncles, Charles Overstreet, Detroit, MI; Rev. Steve (Catherine) Glispie, special cousins: James Overstreet, Louisville, MS, Martha Overstreet, special friends Merle Summerville, Courtney (Mary) Smith and Edna Kersey of Florida

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Lorene Beck, sisters Jeannette Cooper Butt and Liza West.

Services will be on Friday, April 15 at 12:00 noon at Friendship Baptist with calling from 10 AM until the service at the church with Pastor Roosevelt Boyd officiating.

Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery.
