Melba Maxine Crist
September 27, 1921 to April 26, 2011

Melba Maxine Crist, 89, of Anderson died at Meadowbrooke Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 following an extended illness.

Melba was born in Anderson, to John & Elba (Weigel) Crist on September 27, 1921. She was a graduate of Anderson High School. She was a former employee of Warner Press and Delco Remy. She then moved to Chicago, where she was employed for 26 years at the University of Chicago Clinics. She retired as supervisor for the Metabolism Lab. She loved Chicago and called it "her kind of town." After retirement she moved back to Anderson.
She attended Park Place Church of God.

She is survived by her sister and brother in law: Ruth M. and Carol Helvey of Anderson, nieces and nephews, David and Becky Helvey, Kathy and Max Benson all of Anderson, Drew Helvey and Karla Ginouves of Brooksville, Florida; 2 great nephews: Todd Gresley and Mike (Jen) Gresley great great nephew & niece Ian & Kate Gresley of Houston, TX, Special Friends: Tandy Shipley, Bette Humphry, and Jack and Jane Samuels.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother M. Dale Crist, who was killed in WW II.

Cremation was chosen and private family burial will take place at a later date.

The family wishes to thank Vermillion Place for all of their kindness and also many thanks to Meadowbrooke Rehab Center for their tender loving care up until her passing.
