Obituary

Elizabeth (Toda) Sotiropoulos, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2012, surrounded by her loving family at Holy Trinity Nursing Home. Her husband to whom she was married for 65 years, Dino Sotiropoulos, died in June. She leaves two daughters, Joanne and her husband Craig Bombard of West Boylston and Dina and her husband Ronald Entwistle of Holden; a brother-in-law, Tony Soter; five grandchildren, Jacqueline and her husband Andrew Cavanaugh, Nicholas Boule, and Matthew, David, and Christina Entwistle; a great-grandson, Thomas Cavanaugh; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings Sophie Cordista and Leo Toda.

Elizabeth was born in North Grosvenordale, CT; daughter of Peter and Anastasia (Yassou) Toda. She worked for Table Talk Bakery, was a homemaker, and then worked for Dodge Park Rest Home for many years before retiring. Betty was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral. She was a loving, caring person who enjoyed spending time with her family and opening her home for celebrations. Betty was an avid New England sports fan – she especially loved the Red Sox. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Holy Trinity Nursing Home and Hospice for the exceptional care given to Betty and for the support provided to them during her illness.

Calling hours will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street on Sunday, September 9, from 4-7 pm. The funeral will be held at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell St., Worcester MA 01609 on Monday, September 10, at 11 am. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Trinity Nursing Home, 300 Barber Ave., Worcester MA 01606.
