TEWKSBURY - Anna E. (Shimkus) Witkum, age 90, died Tuesday, May 25, at Saints MemorialMedical Center in Lowell after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late William A. Witkum,who died in 1999.
She was born in Boston, Mar. 12, 1914, a daughter of the late Dominick and Florence Shimkus.
She was raised in Boston, and lived in Billerica before moving to Tewksbury in 1944.
In her earlier years, she worked for the Tewksbury school system’s lunch program.
She was a communicant of St. William’s Parish.
She will be lovingly remembered for her skill in crochet and needlework.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia A. Witkum of Tewksbury; a son, William R. Witkum ofDracut, two grandchildren, William R. Witkum Jr. of Kingston, NH, Phyllis J. Danaldson ofLondonderry, NH; four great grandchildren, William Young Bin Witkum, Rene, Cara andMatthew Donaldson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also sister of the late John and Charles Shimkus, Aldona Brabant, and Adella Duggan.
Her Funeral Mass was held Friday, May 28, in St. William’s Church Tewksbury. Interment was in Tewksbury Cemetery.
