Mr. Kenneth James Burns, a long time resident of Medford and beloved husband of Elizabeth A. “Betsy” (Drauschke) Burns died suddenly at his home on Tuesday, September 4, 2012. He was 59 years old.
Born in Medford on July 25, 1953, Ken was the beloved son of Shirley A. (Adamson) and the late James D. Burns. Mr. Burns worked for more than 20 years at Supply New England as a shipper and receiver. In his spare time, Mr. Burns enjoyed playing golf and many family activities. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife and family, especially to Las Vegas, Disney World and Hawaii. He also enjoyed spending time in Maine with his close friends and their families and going out to dinner with his friends.
Besides his beloved wife, Betsy and mother Shirley, Ken will be very sorely missed by his sisters; Susan J. and her husband Frank Collins of Derry, New Hampshire and Donna A. and her husband Gerry R. Archiprete of Tewksbury, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Paul and his wife Von Drauschke Fred and his wife Barbara Drauschke, Ronald Drauschke, Debbie Drauschke and the late Carl Drauschke, nieces and nephews; Kristen, Kerry, Kim, Kelly, Katie, Kurt, Mark, Craig, Kristy and Erik; grandnieces and grandnephews; Megan, Kaileigh, Hannah, Jack, Ashley, Emily, Derek, Nathan, Andrew, Ryleigh, Jake and Sam and uncle; Colin Adamson. Ken was also the godfather of Hailey Sullivan, Kristen Hoffman, Kelly Archiprete and Jake D’Amato. Ken is also survived by many cousins. He had a special relationship with his doctor, Dr. Paul Burns, no relation as Ken would say, who was always very caring, supportive and always there when needed. Ken will be sorely missed by his many close friends. His funeral service was celebrated in the First Baptist Church, 37 Oakland Street, Medford, Saturday, September 8, 2012, at 2 PM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended. Visiting hours were held in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Friday, September 7, 2012, from 3-8. Interment was private. Ken also loved his beloved dog, “Dusty”.
