Cheryl A. (Johnson) Barton

Cheryl A. (Johnson) Barton, age 56 of Tokyo, Japan, died at St. John's Hospital after an extended illness.
She was born in Anderson, IN May 24, 1955 to Donald D. and Betty Jo (Hyman) Johnson.
She was a missionary in Japan for 32 years and was currently serving as associate pastor for Tamagawa Church of God in Tokyo, Japan. Cheryl has served the international church through writing and editing 15 books of international testimonies, missions curriculum for kids and has authored two devotional books and a history of Church of God missions.
Her home church was Park Place Church of God in Anderson.
She is survived by her husband, Bernard S. Barton of Tokyo, her parents, Dr. Donald D. and Betty Jo Johnson of Anderson, her son Benjamin S. Barton of Guam and daughter Stephanie (Donald) Lyngdoh and grandchildren: Benjamin and Hosanna of Qingdao, China; sister, Don Deena Johnson of Anderson and brother John (Gwen) Johnson of Portland, Oregon; mother-in-law Margaret Barton of Poplar Bluff, MO; 2 sisters-in-law Ruth Ann Diamond of Poplar Bluff, MO and Sandra (Gene) Hobbs of Tullahoma, TN; and a brother-in-law Allan (Vicki) Barton of Poplar Bluff, MO; several nieces and nephews including Jonni (Kyle) Davy and Will (Mandy) Johnson .
Services will be on Wednesday, June 29 at 2:00 P.M. at Park Place Church of God with Rev. Don Collins and Dr. Ann Smith officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 29 from 12 noon until the funeral at 2 P.M.
