
Robert Leo Bloome

Robert Leo Bloome, 86, of Anderson, died July 4, 2011 at Manor Care Nursing Home following and extended illness. He was born February 4, 1925 in Carlinville, IL to Leo F. and Rose (Brindle) Bloome.
He graduated from Rolla University in 1950, where he was the champion Algebra student of his college class. He served in the US Navy from 1943-45. He served on a DE in the Bering Strait in 1943 and on an attack transport in 1944 in Okinawa. He loved his country and was proud of his service in the US Navy.
He met his beloved wife, Sybil K. (Cannon) Bloome while working as a supervisor with Owens Glass in Alton, IL. The two fell in love and married in 1950. They moved to Muncie in 1952 and then to Anderson in 1958.
Robert worked as a process engineer for Delco Remy for 30 years, retiring in 1987. Robert was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, president of the Garden Club, member and former president of the Optimist Club, served as a scoutmaster and was involved with little league with his sons, and found great enjoyment in fishing.
Survivors: his son, William Leo Bloome of Daleville, 2 grandchildren: Daisy Lynn Bloome of Chesterfield, Justin Leo Bloome of San Diego, CA, and a brother, Loren Bloome of Girard, IL; 3 nephews Greg Campbell of Springfield, IL; Mike Bloome of Springfield, IL and Mark Bloome of Petersburg, IL; 2 nieces Lorna (Bloome) Scroggins of Auburn, IL and Mary Bloome of Springfield, IL.
Preceded in death by: his wife Sybil on May 14th of this year, a son, Robert Warren Bloome and a sister Joyce Campbell Lumdsen.
Services: Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 11 Am at Rozelle Johnson Funeral Service with Deacon Dominic Petan officiating. Burial will take place in Bronnenberg Cemetery in Chesterfield. Friends may call from 6-8 PM at Rozelle Johnson Funeral Service in Anderson. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside service.
