Lou Iris McMahan
December 31, 1935 - August 25, 2011

Lou Iris (Parmer) McMahan, age 75 of Anderson died at Community Hospital August 25, 2011 following a brief illness.

Lou was a life long Anderson resident born December 31, 1935 to Marion F. and Una (Meador) Parmer.

She was a teacher for Anderson Community Schools 30 years before retiring in 1991. She taught at Columbia School, Hazelwood School, Westvale School and then 20 years at Meadowbrook School where she taught 6th grade.

She loved her church and was a fine Christian lady. She was active in many church activities including plant sales, rummage sales, singing in the choir, playing the organ at various churches.

She enjoyed gardening, flowers, birds, reading, Sudoku, music, traveling and she enjoyed organ classes at Lambert Music Store.

She was a devoted wife to W. Gene McMahan and a devoted mother to a blended family, Bran (Terry) McFarland of River Falls, WI; Stacy (Scott) Hutton of Rocky River, OH; Doug McFarland of Anderson, IN; Steve (Lynne) McMahan of Indianapolis, IN; Debbie Clear of Ferndale, MI; Doug (Karen) McMahan of Grand Blanc, MI; Dan (Jennifer) McMahan in Anderson, IN and a devoted grandmother to Kristen McFarland; Lindsey Hutton; Zach Hutton; Joshua McFarland; Melissa McMahan; Amanda McMahan; Emily (John) Murray; Alex McMahan; Katie McMahan; Danielle McMahan; Ashlynn McMahan; Amber McMahan; and devoted great grandmother to Jillian Tomlinson McMahan; Jack Murray and Callie McFarland.

She was preceded in death by her parents; half brother Ottwell Meador and a grandson, Brandon McFarland.

Services will be held on Monday, August 29, at 11:00 A.M. at New Horizons United Methodist Church officiated by Pastor John Hackney and Pastor Gina Kirkland. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery.

Friends may call on Sunday, August 28 from 2-6 P.M. at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service and on Monday, August 29 from 10 until the service at 11:00 A.M. at the church.

Memorial contributions may be given to New Horizons United Methodist Church or Madison County Humane Society.
