John Thomas Dillard, Sr., 92, of Tifton died Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at his granddaughter's, Rose Adams, residence. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2012, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. W. E. Fogarty will officiate with burial to follow in Lawrence Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 7, 2012, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The family will be at 292 Mitchell Store Road in Tifton.
Mr. Dillard was born on August 22, 1920 in Berrien County and was the son of J. H. "Jim" Dillard and Viola Coker Dillard, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Nioma Holloway Dillard; an infant son; an infant grandson; an infant great-granddaughter; three sons-in-law, Clifford Moreland, Roger Crider and Bobby Moreland; five brothers; and six sisters. He was a farmer for most of his life and also retired from J. P. Stevens. He was of the Holiness Baptist faith.
Mr. Dillard is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Violet Dillard of Ocilla and Ronald and Lee Dillard of Tifton; three daughters and one son-in-law, Barbara Moreland Crider of Dalton, Jeanette Moreland of Chatsworth and Charlene and Rev. W. E. Fogarty of Tifton; 17 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.
