Athena R. (Allex) Granger, age 75, of Anderson, died Sunday at her daughter's residence in Houston, TX following an extended illness.
She was born on June 13, 1936 to Limber & Dorothy (Sanders) Allex in Anderson, IN where she lived all her life.
She worked for JC Penney 29 years before retiring in 1997.
She was a member of 5th Street United Methodist Church. She was a member of Onward & Upward Home Economics Club.
She is survived by her husband David H. Granger of Anderson whom she married August 14, 1954; son David E. Granger of Upland, daughter Christina (Eric) Perry of Houston, TX;
2 sisters: Helen McCord of Anderson, Sally (Herb) Mears of Salinas, CA and her brother, Tom (Margaret) Allex of Anderson; her 4 grandchildren: Tina (Shaun) Hinton, Michael Granger; Alex Perry and Nick Perry; her great grandchild, Courtney Hinton and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Ricky Granger, her 2 sisters Norma Moore and Karen Nelson
Services will by held on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 12:00 Noon at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Daniel Helm officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 10 AM until the service at noon.
