Retha M. Shultz, 97, Anderson, died October 14, 2011 at Bethany Pointe Health Campus in Anderson. She had been in hospice care since November of 2010. The family wishes to extend grateful thanks to the attentive, loving staff at Bethany Pointe Health Campus for their incredible care of both Claire and Retha over the past several years.
Retha was born Apr. 22, 1914, in Anderson, Indiana, grew up at Park Place Church of God, and graduated from Anderson College. Retha, with her late husband, Clair, pastored congregations in Noblesville, Indiana, Bemidji and St. Paul Park, Minn. The Shultzs' terms of missionary service were in Trinidad, Tobago and Grenada, in the West Indies from 1945 to 1958; in Jamaica from 1958 to 1962; and in Kenya, East Africa from 1962 to 1970 and 1985 to 1986.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Carol (Richard) Lehner of Lansing, Mich.; a son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. David (Karon) Shultz of Huachuca City, Arizona; five grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clair W. Shultz, her parents, Raymond and Beulah Mills; and her sister, Ruth Packard.
Memorial Service will be held at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service on Monday, November 21, at 11:00 A.M. with Dr. David Shultz officiating. Friends may call Monday, November 21, from 10 AM until the service.
A private burial will take place at East Maplewood Cemetery following the service.
