Alice A. Haines

...well known in Tewksbury and Billerica; 71

BILLERICA - Mrs. Alice Ann (Conway) Haines, a lifelong resident of North Billerica’s Garden City Neighborhood,died Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at Manatee Hospital in Bradenton, FL, after a long illness. She was 71.

Mrs. Haines was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 1932 in North Billerica to the late Howard& Bessie (Gray) Conway. She is survived by her husband, Leonard C. Haines (formerly of Tewksbury) withwhom she would have celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary this coming November.

She grew up in North Billerica and attended the Billerica Public Schools. She was also a life long parishionerof St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Church in North Billerica.

She worked at Raytheon in Tewksbury, and for the Billerica Public Schools as a cafeteria aide and schoolcrossing guard for the children of the Talbot & Hajjar Schools. Later, she worked at the Tewksbury State Hospitalwhere she retired in 1994.

She and her husband enjoyed wintering in Ellenton, FL since 1996.

Mrs. Haines served the Town of Billerica as an election worker and served for several years as aRepresentative to the Billerica Town Meeting Assembly.

Besides her husband Alice is survived by her son, James P. Haines, of North Billerica, two sisters, Mrs.Russell (Barbara Conway) Greenwood, of Chelmsford, Patricia (Desmond) and her husband Paul Kilian ofCarlisle, two brothers & sisters-in-law, Thomas H Conway, Jr. and his wife Constance (Hurley) and John G.(Jack) Conway and his wife Deanna (Thompson), all of North Billerica.Mrs. Haines is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, godchildren, in-laws, cousins and dearfriends.

Mrs. Haines was also the sister of the late Mary Charlotte (Conway) Harvey and the sister-in-law tothe late Russell L. Greenwood of Chelmsford, Robert A. Haines of Tewksbury, Peter W. Haines of Billericaand Donald Haines of Boise, ID.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated, Wednesday, June 2, in St. Andrews Church, No. Billerica. Interment was in North Cemetery, Billerica.
