Mansel D. Brown, 97, of Anderson, died at his home on October 28, 2011 following an extended illness.
He was born September 19, 1914 in Cullman, Alabama, the son of Thomas and Viola (Cole) Brown. He attended West Pointe High School in Cullman, and moved to Anderson in 1940.
He was employed in Skilled trades at Guide Lamp for 37 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of Park Place Church of God, and had also attended Eastside Church of God. He was a member of East Side Community Club, Red Coat at Community Hosptial for 15 years, and UAW 663.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille H. (Rathman) Brown, whom he married on November 25, 1994. 2 Children: Stephen (Kathleen) Brown of Anderson, and Carolyn (Ralph) Binkley of The Villages, FL. 3 step children: Rebecca (Gary) McQuain of Georgetown, KY, R. DeLon (Jeannie) Hull of Cincinnati, OH, and Timothy (Vicky) Hull of Anderson. 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews
preceded in death by his first wife, Beatrice (Johnson) Brown, 3 Brothers and 4 Sisters and a great grandchild, Nathan Beitz
Services will be on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 12 Noon at Rozelle Johnson Funeral Service. Visitation will take place from 10 Am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery.
