Shirley Jean Hoenstine

Shirley Jean (Steele) Hoenstine, 81, of Anderson, died Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Community Hospital, following an extended illness.
She was born on March 12, 1930 in Gary, Indiana, the daughter of Carl and Evelyn (Edmunds) Steele.
She grew up in Gary and graduated from 1947 from Tolleston High School. She was employed by IDS for 17 years, followed by 14 years at the Southdale Kmart, where she retired in 1995. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church where she was active on the Alter Guild, Sewing Circle, and Kitchen Committee. She was a member of the Purdue Extension Home Economics Club.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jack W. Hoenstine, 3 Children: John (Phylis) Hoenstine and Tim Hoenstine of Indianapolis, and Jill (Joe) Clark of Alexandria. 5 grandchildren: Jacob, Jared, Travis, Rachel, Jordan, and 2 great grandchildren, Hannah and Emma
Services will be on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at 4 PM at Rozelle Johnson Funeral Service, officiated by Pastor Matt Manning, with visitation 2 hours prior to the funeral on Tuesday. Burial will take place at East Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson.
