Obituary

Worcester—Robert F. Hemenway, 77, of 1 Myrick Ave. and North Eastham, died Thursday, May 20, 2004, in Port Richey, FL. His wife of 50 years, Dorothy Plankey Hemenway, died in 1997. He leaves a foster daughter, Joan A. Denise Stout of Worcester; his sister, Ruth Jakubiak, wife of Chester Jakubiak Sr. and many loving family members.

Mr. Hemenway was born in Worcester, son of James Lloyd and Pauline (Tripp) Hemenway. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade High School and enlisted in the Navy at 17. He was a veteran of WWII and received the Normandy medal for his service in France. He attended Worcester State College and was a teacher and later Principal of Leominster Trade High School until his retirement. For many years he managed the Cape Cod “Originals” Arts and Crafts Show with his wife. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, May 28, at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. before the service. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St, Framingham, MA 01701.
