Joseph W. Spillman
April 7, 1921 to December 7, 2011

Joseph W. Spillman, age 90, of Anderson died at Community Hospital on Wednesday, December 7, 2011.

He was born April 7, 1921 in Indianapolis, IN the son of Rev. Jefferson W. and Florence J. (Currier) Spillman. He graduated from Anderson High School Class of 1939.

He worked at Howe Fire Apparatus as a foreman for 39 years and in the X-ray Department of Community Hospital 20 years before retiring in June 3, 1999.

He was a lifelong member of Seventh-day Adventist Church in Anderson where he served as Elder and many other church offices. He loved children and was a Church Pathfinder leader for many years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the American Legion Post #127.

He is survived by his wife Madonna (Johnson) Spillman of Anderson; children David J. (Ellen) Spillman of Anderson, Diana Lea Spillman of Anderson; Elaine Johnson of Lebanon, Ohio; Lawrence (Roberta) Johnson of Anderson, IN; Jay Johnson of Anderson; 14 grandchildren J.R. (Michelle) Spillman; David John Spillman; Amy (Paul) Hungerford; Joseph Spillman; Jo Baker; John (Teresa) Gilley; David (Anita) Gilley; Chad (Kirsty) Peters; Amanda (Chris) Young; Sara (Ben) Adcock; Daphne (Brian) Holtzleiter; Laura (Roman) Cortez; Eric (Laura) Johnson, and Jessica Johnson; 17 great grandchildren Patrick & Ryan Spillman; Aiden Peters; Sam Young; Jack Young; Anna Kate Young; Gabi Adcock; Malachi Adcock; Isaac Adcock; Lydia Adcock; Alexander Fortier; Caitlin Holtzleiter; Alyson Holtzleiter; Ashley Holtzleiter; Isabella Cortez, Valarie Johnson and Andy Baker; 3 special friends, Marty Wilcox and Dr. Fredrick and Panchy Souchet.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Hazel (Colhower) Spillman; daughter Sandra; Grandson Bob Gilley and granddaughter Debra Hall.

A special thanks to Dr. Kelly Chambers, Nurses at Community Hospital 3rd Floor, Manor Care, and Community Home Health Services Hospice.

Services will be on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Terry Nennick of Seventh-day Adventist Church officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery with military graveside rites by VFW Post 266 Honor Guard.

The visitation will be on Monday, December 12, 2011 from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be given Cross Street Christian School.
