Mark Sevigney, 76, of New Bedford died February 27, 2002 at St. Luke's Hospital due to complications from diabetes.
He was the husband of Mary (Sullivan) Sevigney, to whom he was married for 52 years, and son of the late Leo Sevigney and Mary (Silva) Sevigney Powers, and stepson of the late Clyde L. Powers.
Mr. Sevigney was born in New Bedford and lived in New Bedford all of his life.
He was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.
Mr. Sevigney was a longtime salesman for John Dugan Buick-Pontiac in New Bedford until retiring in 1990.
Mr. Sevigney served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 132nd Anti-Aircraft Artillery Gun Battalion, participating in the battles and campaigns of Northern France, the Rhineland and Central Europe. He was a recipient of the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Campaign ribbon, the Good Conduct medal and the World War II Victory medal. He was a member of the Florence Eastman American Legion Post 280 in Mattapoisett.
Survivors include his wife; 2 sons, Mark Sevigney, and his wife Sandra, of Assonet, and M. Scott Sevigney, and his wife Lynne, of New Bedford; a granddaughter, Atty. Jennifer (Sevigney) Durand, and her husband Bertrand, of South Boston; a grandson, Michael Sevigney of New Bedford, who was his "Pop's" best friend; a sister-in-law, Eileen Perry of Acushnet; and several nieces and nephews including, Gene "Butch" Perry, and his wife Diane, of Acushnet.
