Sylvia S. Rudker Cunningham, age 92, of Groton, passed away August 31st at Mystic Rehab & Healthcare.
She was born in New York City on December 4, 1919 the daughter of William and Pauline Rudker. She was married to James D. Cunningham in Waterford on September 17, 1939. He died October 17, 1982.
She was an active member of the Groton Senior Center where she participated in the dancing club. Remembered for her gifted artistic abilities, she enjoyed painting, crafting, and exhibited many of her works at regional craft fairs.
Her family would like to thank Mystic Health & Rehab Center for the care and compassion shown to Sylvia.
She is survived by her children, John (Ingrid) Cunningham of Ledyard, James Cunningham of Merida, Mexico, Mark (Jenny) Cunningham of New York City; two grandchildren, Jason and Alaina; three step-grandchildren, Gen, Heike, and James; a granddaughter, and two step-great-great grandchildren, a niece, and a nephew. She was predeceased by her siblings, Alex, Jenny, and Michael.
Sylvia’s family will gather for a private service and burial at Starr Hill Cemetery, Groton.
