Marie A. (Theriault) Cyr, 82, of Salem, NH died Saturday, September 1st at Salemhaven in Salem, NH.
Born and educated in Cambridge, MA she lived in Cambridge until moving to Salem 8 years ago. Marie worked for many years for the Cambridge, MA School Dept. as a Cafeteria worker and Manager, until her retirement. She loved to travel and spent many winters in the Bay St. Louis, MS area, even buying a condo so she had her own place after the death of her husband. In recent months, she was attending Silverthorne Adult Day Center and she made many new friends at the “club” as she referred to Silverthorne. She will be missed by many.
She was the widow of Oscar Cyr to whom she was married for 50 years. She was also predeceased by her son Paul.
Marie is survived by her children: daughter Michelle Alsup and her husband Butch of Salem, son Edward and his wife Nancy of Arlington, MA, son James and his wife Deborah of South Portland, ME, daughter Susan Abbott and her husband Dennis of Salem and daughter Denise Stone and her husband Ron of Lawrence, MA. She is also survived by her brother, Rev. A. Francis Theriault, SVD, currently residing in Techny, IL, 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
No visiting hours will be held. A Funeral Mass in celebration of her life will be offered at Mary Queen of Peace Church, 200 Lawrence Rd., Salem, NH on Friday, September 7th at 11 AM. Arrangements are under the care of Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH.
