Obituary

SALEM - Janina (Sowa) Sawulski, 90, of Salem, wife of the late Chester J. Sawulski, died Friday morning, August 31, 2012 at her home with family at her side.

Mrs. Sawulski was born and raised in Poland. While living there, she met and married Chester Sawulski, who was an American citizen, living in Poland. “Babcia”as she is known to family and friends, came to the US in 1945 and has been a resident of Salem since that time. She was a parishioner of the St.. John The Baptist Church, Salem.

Babcia is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles B. and Paula Sawulski of Salem, and with whom she made her home, John and Susan Sawulski of Venice, Florida, 5 grandchildren, Diane Stankiewicz, whom Babcia looked upon as a daughter, Charles B. Sawulski, Jr., Kristine DeGregorio, Jeffrey Sawulski, Gregory Sawulski, 5 great grandchildren, Laura Sawulski, Sarah Sawulski, Chad Stankiewicz, Cooper Sawulski, Cade Sawulski, 1 great great grandchild, Elyanna Sawulski as well as several nieces and nephews in Poland. She was predeceased 1 brother and 3 sisters, all of Poland and a grandson, James C. Sawulski.

Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 10 am in the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, with Rev. Msgr. Stanley Parfienczyk, Pastor of the St. John The Baptist Church, officiating. Visiting hours a Tuesday, 5 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the St. John the Baptist Church, 28 St. Peter St., Salem, MA 01970.
