Oliver Berube, 88, formerly of 4 Cascade Flats, Gorham, NH passed away on Friday afternoon, Aug. 31, 2012 at the St. Vincent de Paul Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Berlin. He was born in Cascade, Gorham, NH on July 25, 1924 the son of Joseph and Anna (Guin) Berube and was raised in the area, graduating from Gorham High School in 1943. He later moved to California and returned to Cascade many years ago, when he also wintered in Florida. Oliver had been employed by Brown Company and James River Corp, retiring from the Pollution Control Department in 1986. He was a member of Holy Family Church, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree and enjoyed golfing.
Members of the family include his brother Norman Berube and wife Priscilla of Berlin; a sisters in law Florence Berube of Groveton, NH and Barbara Berube of Saco, ME; his best friend Pauline Duguay of Gorham, NH; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Jeannette (Turcotte) Berube on Feb. 20, 2000, 5 brothers Robert, Andrew, Lionel, Rene and George and 2 sisters Simonne and Theresa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday September 4, 2012 at 10 AM at Holy Family Church, Gorham, NH. Interment will be in the St. Kieran Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 1 Promenade St., Gorham on Monday evening from 6 to 9 PM. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
