George Chapman
October 4, 1942 to January 30, 2012

George Chapman, age 69 of Anderson died January 30, 2012 at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born October 4, 1942 in New Castle to Cecil and Juanita (Bowman) Chapman.

He was a firefighter 22 1/2 years retiring in October of 1992 from the Anderson Fire Department; he was a truck driver for 21 1/2 years with the food service department of Anderson Community Schools.

Military: He served 8 years in the US Air Force.

He was a member of New Hope Christian Church; IAF and IAFF; FOFF; Crime Watch and the American Legion. He loved to walk his dog Snoopy and talk to his friends.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years Maggie (Huber) Chapman of Anderson whom he married June 5, 1965 in Ellis, Kansas; his son Micah (Alishia) Chapman; grandchildren Lindley (Dillon) Chapman; Emma Smith; Lee Jones and Eli Smith and several nieces and nephews

Preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister.

Services will be Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Rev. John Hannum officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery with military graveside rites by VFW Post 266 Honor Guard. The visitation will be on Friday from 4-8 P.M. at the funeral home

Memorial contributions may be given to New Hope Christian Church.
