Lloyd Herman Gilbert
July 14, 1917 to February 7, 2012

Lloyd Herman Gilbert, 94, of Anderson died at Community Hospital after an extended illness.

Lloyd was born July 14, 1917 in West Plains, MO to Louis and Julia (Morris) Gilbert.

He was a tool & dye maker at Guide Lamp for 32 1/2 years before retiring in June of 1985.

Military: He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during WW II.

Organizations/memberships: He had been a resident of Harter House. He attended South Meridian Church of God and Chesterfield Community Church of God. He was a member of Anderson Rifle and Pistol Club.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years Merle (Smith) Gilbert of Anderson whom he married September 18, 1944; his daughter Deanese (Jim) Friend of Chesterfield and his son Steve (Patty) Gilbert of Arizona; grandchildren: Julie (Brian) Underhill of Willard, MO; Neal (Cindy) Arthur of Rolla, MO; Tony (Brandi) Arthur of Neosho, MO; Jeff (Cyndee) Friend of Anderson; Janet Porter of Lynwood, SW; Jason (Jayna) Friend of Anderson, IN; Christopher Gilbert of Arizona dnd Andy & Angela Gilbert of New Zealand; great grandchildren Drew and Claire Underhill; Brodie & Dane Arthur; Cody & Jake Friend; Justin, Nathan and Tyler Porter and Jesse & Jordyn Friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 10 siblings.

Services will be Monday 10:00 am at South Meridian Church of God with Rev. Dale Landis and Pastor Wayne Sellers officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery.

The visitation will be on Sunday, February 12 from 2-6 P.M. at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service.

Memorial Contributions may be given to Youth For Christ.
