Carmela A. Chase, 78, of Derry, NH, died Sunday, May 23, 2004 in the Boston University Medical Center, Boston, MA. Mrs. Chase was born in East Boston, MA on March 10, 1926, a daughter of the late Michael and Celestina (Collorusso) Matarozzo. She was a resident of Derry for 68 years, formerly living in East Boston, MA. She was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy, Derry, Class of 1944. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Benson's Hardware for 27 years. She was a communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Derry. Mrs. Chase was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Franklin R."B Z" Chase, of Derry, two daughters, Christine A. Lee and her husband Arthur of Gilford, NH, Judith Kilham and her husband Bradley of West Melbourne, FL, eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, six sisters, four brothers and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday May 26th at 10:00am at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Crystal Avenue, Derry. Burial will follow in the Forest Hill Cemetery, East Derry. Friends may call on Tuesday from 7- 9pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the George Goggin Memorial Scholarship Fund, Pinkerton Academy Alumni Office, 5 Pinkerton Street, Derry, NH 03038.
