Henry G. "H.G." Smith, age 84, of Anderson died suddenly, April 8, 2012 at St. John's Hospital in Anderson.
Henry was born in Black Rock, Arkansas to Lark W. and Lillian (Wells) Smith.
He worked at Philadelphia Quarts 20 years; Nicholson File 11 years; Marsh Supermarket 12 years before retiring in 1990.
He was a member of Main Street Church of God. He enjoyed camping, his grandchildren and his great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis (Vaught) Smith of Anderson whom he married December 19, 2003; children: Jackie (Bill) Ludlow of Lawrence, Diana (Sam) Bruner of Indianapolis, Terry (Durrenda) Smith of Pendleton; step-sons, Mike (Nora) Vaught of Anderson; Phillip Vaught of Anderson; step-daughter-in-law, Glenda Vaught; 7 grandchildren Sherri (Ryan) Moran; Beckie (Scott) Ellman; Billy Ludlow; Jon (Julie) Ludlow; Jessica Smith; Nick (Jenna) Smith and Jason Bruner; 8 great grandchildren: Blake, Grace, Chelsea, Allison Moran, Tiffani, Joshua, Vanessa Ellman and Karinna Smith; brother Clyde (Ruth Ann) Smith and sister Vetrix (Robert) Winchester; six step grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 50 years, Betty (Felton) Smith; 2 brothers, Otho and Owen Smith; stepson Terry Vaught.
Services will be Thursday, April 12 at 10:30 A.M. at Main Street Church of God with Rev. Don Billie and Pastor John Hackney officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
The visitation will be on Wednesday, April 11 from 5 to 8 P.M. at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service.
Memorial Contributions may be given to American Diabetes Association, Main Street Church of God or Crossroads United Methodist Church.
