Obituary

WORCESTER___Beatrice L. Lamprey, 84, of St. Mary Health Care, 39 Queen St., died Saturday May 22.

Miss Lamprey was born in Worcester, daughter of James and Louise (Allaire) Lamprey and is survived by nephews and nieces.

She was a sales clerk at Denholm’s and American Supply Co. for many years. She also worked at the former Graton Knights Co., in Worcester during World War II.

Beatrice was an accomplished singer, ballroom dancer and instructor. She taught dance at the YWCA for many years. She sang and did impressions as an entertainer in the Worcester and Webster area in the late 1930's and early 1940's. Her agent was Danny Duggan. Miss Lamprey was a professional ladies softball player in Worcester and New York and was also an avid Red Sox fan.

Miss Lamprey was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday May 25 from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St., with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Monday May 24 from 6 to 8 p.m.
