Wareham – Ruth H. (Elgar) Benson, 59, of Acushnet died Sunday, May 23, 2004 at Tobey Hospital after a long illness.
Mrs. Benson was born in Acushnet, daughter of the late Lewis W. and Lillian M. (Jackson) Elgar, and was a lifelong resident of Acushnet. She was a member of the Long Plain United Methodist Church, Acushnet. She was a homemaker who enjoyed knitting and caring for the elderly. She loved her dogs and most of all enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her companion: Charles W. Neff of Sagamore; her daughter: Karen S. Harrison of Acushnet; 2 sons: Kevin S. White and Donald M. Benson both of New Bedford; 3 sisters: Luann Greyson of San Jose, CA, Lorraine Guy of Rochester and Ruth Texereia of Dighton; 3 brothers: Lewis W. “Billy” Elgar, Jr. of Acushnet, Richard J. “Dick” Elgar of Acushnet and James MacFarlene of Florence, KY; 6 grandchildren: Kevin S. Nunes of New Bedford, Joshua J. Harrison of Acushnet, Korey D.S. White of New Bedford, Caitlyn S. Harrison of Acushnet, Cassandra L. Stojak of New Bedford and Holly D. Stojak of New Bedford; and several nieces & nephews.
She was sister of the late Alicia M. Plant.

Funeral service Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. at the KIRBY FUNERAL HOME, 61 Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford.
