Ralph J. Smith

Ralph J. Smith, 89, of Daleville, died Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at his residence. He was born May 1, 1923 in Hamilton, Indiana, the son of Ralph and Anna May (Gray) Smith.
He graduated from Yorktown High School and entered the U.S. Navy Seabee and Served in the South Pacific During WW II. Upon his return from service, he entered college and graduated from Ball State University. He was employed by GMAC in Muncie for 34 years.
He married Miriam Annette Reynolds on June 15, 1946 at First Baptist Church in Anderson.
He was a 50 year plus member of First Baptist Church in Anderson. He was a longtime member of the Daleville Lions Club where he held various offices within the club. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family.
He is survived his wife Miriam; 3 children: Rick J. (Janice) Smith of Muncie, Dennis L. (Mary) Smith of Virginia Beach, VA and Karen Wilson (husband Steve) of Chesterfield; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; his sister, Madonna (Nelson) Hughes of Tennessee and a brother, Everette Lee Smith of Garrett, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 5 sisters and a brother.
Services will be Saturday, May 26 at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church in Anderson with Dr. Art Jaggard officiating.
Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park
The visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the church.
Memorial contributions may be given to American Diabetes Association or First Baptist Church.
Services are being handled by Rozelle Johnson Funeral Service.
