Henry Edward "Heinie" Sullivan, 90, of Dartmouth died Saturday May 22, 2004 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Elizabeth P. (Pittman) Sullivan and the late Edna (Andersen) Sullivan.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Edward and Rhoda (Brownell) Sullivan, he lived in New Bedford and Dartmouth for most of his life.
He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church.
Mr. Sullivan was formerly employed as a sales representative for J.C. Rhodes, Inc. until his retirement.
Mr. Sullivan was a graduate of New Bedford High School, where he was an outstanding athlete in baseball, basketball, and football. He was a member of the 1929 State Championship American Legion Team. He was a founding member of the Murphy Club and a former member of the Country Club of New Bedford. He enjoyed listening to music.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife; four stepchildren, Michael Gonet and Susan Archer, both of Dartmouth, Laurie Powers of Fairhaven, and Robert Gonet of Burlington; four stepgrandchildren; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday May 26, 2004 at 11:30 AM in Grace Episcopal Church. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery will be private. Visiting hours will beat the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford on Tuesday May 25, 2004 from 4-7 PM.
