POMPANO BEACH, FL - Loretta M. Pare, 87, a longtime resident of Chicopee and currently a resident of Pompano Beach, Florida was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, August 29, 2012. She passed into Eternal Life at the Presidential Place Assisted Living in Hollywood, Florida surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving niece, Darlene Mannix. She was born at home in Chicopee on September 21, 1924 a beloved daughter of the late Aurore (Labrecque) Pare. She graduated from Chicopee High School and was employed at Westover Air Force Base from December of 1950 until December of 1969. In January of 1970, she transferred to the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia where she accepted a position as Executive Secretary to the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Financial Management and subsequently, the Under Secretary of the Air Force, and the Secretary of the Air Force. Prior to her retirement in November of 1976, she was the recipient of the Meritorious Civilian Service Award. Loretta moved to Coral Springs, Florida in November of 1976, and lived in Pompano Beach, Florida at the time of her passing. Loretta leaves: her dear brothers, Leonard “Red” Pare and his wife, Connie and Donald Pare and his wife, Dolores, all of Chicopee; and her many cherished nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces. Besides her mother, she was also predeceased by her dear sisters and their husbands, Rita Hebert and her husband, Woodrow “Woody” Hebert, and Marcella Lupien and her husband, Roland Lupien. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, September 5, 2012 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
