Claire (Arel) Duhamel 81, died Friday August 24, 2012. She was the wife of Raymond Duhamel, with whom she celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary May 30, 2012. Born in Woonsocket April 3, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Ephrem and Mary-Anne (Dutil) Arel. Claire worked in the accounting department at Marquette Credit Union for twenty years before retiring. She loved to sew and was an accomplished seamstress. Claire and Ray were avid ballroom dancers and spent most Saturday nights on the dance floor at several area dance venues.
Besides her husband she leaves three daughters, Susan Duhamel, Jane Tellier, and Carol Duhamel all of Woonsocket, a sister Georgette Watson of Peaks Island, ME, two grandchildren, Danielle, and Matthew Tellier, and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held Friday at 10:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in All Saints Church, Rathbun St. Woonsocket. Burial will be private. Visiting Hours are Thursday 4-7 PM. Please omit flowers. The family kindly requests donations to ALS Association, RI Chapter, 2915 Post Rd. Warwick, RI 02886 in her memory.
