TEWKSBURY: Karen A. (Brothers) Cook, age 59, a former longtime Tewksbury resident, passed away on August 14, 2012 in Malabar, Florida.
Born in Boston on April 16, 1953, she was the daughter of the late George F. and Phyllis J. (Kerrigan) Brothers.
Karen was raised in Tewksbury and attended Tewksbury schools. She resided in Tewksbury for many years until moving to Grant, FL in 1978. She later relocated to Key West, FL and recently moved to Malabar.
Karen worked as a Commercial Fisherman in Brevard County and previously worked as a Waitress at Maverick's Restaurant in Tewksbury.
Karen enjoyed frequenting good restaurants, spending time with friends, but her passion was always fishing.
Karen will lovingly be remembered for her outgoing personality and great sense of humor.
She is survived by her daughter, Michelle M. DeFina and her husband Michael of Tewksbury; her granddaughter, Andrea DeFina of Tewksbury; four sisters, Jean P. Sullivan, Robin A. Marion and her husband Stephen all of Tewksbury, Maureen E. DeGon and her husband Joseph of Pelham, NH and Tracy A. Spinos and her husband Charles of Tewksbury; three brothers, George F. Brothers, Jr. and his companion of 30 years, Cindy, Patrick M. Brothers and his wife Nancy all of Tewksbury and William P. Brothers and his wife Rene of Meredith, NH; also many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will be received on Tuesday, Aug. 28, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury.
In lieu of flowers and at Karen's request "Help A Child" by making a donation in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
