Obituary

Leo J. Cullinan Sr., 80, of Londonderry, NH, died Thursday, May 20, 2004 in the Parkland Medical Center, Derry, NH. Mr. Cullinan was born in Lowell, MA on August 1, 1923, a son of the late James J. and Margaret (Houlihan) Cullinan. He was a resident of Londonderry for 13 years, formerly living in Hampstead, NH. Mr. Cullinan was a graduate of Lowell High School, Class of 1941. He was US Navy World War II and Korean Conflict veteran. While in the Navy, he served on the USS Buck #420 and the USS Cony #508 Destroyers during World War II and the USS Dyess #880 Destroyer during the Korean Conflict. He was a recipient of 11 Bronze Stars. He was a member of the American Legion Carl Davis Post #34 in Plaistow, NH, the VFW in Kingston, and the Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member of the Tin Can Sailors in Fall River, MA He retired from General Electric in Lowell, MA after 38 years. He also worked for the Town of Hampstead for 18 years. He was a communicant of St. Anne's Parish in Hampstead.

He is survived by two sons, Walter Cullinan of Salem, NH, Paul Cullinan of Lowell, MA, two daughters, Dorothy Moran and her husband George of Andover, MA, Kathaleen Cullinan of Lowell, MA, four grandchildren, Jonathan, Leo, Sherri, and Rachel, several great grandchildren, one sister, Rita Cullinan of Lawrence, MA, several nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by by one son Leo J. Cullinan Jr.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 25th at 10:30am in St. Anne's Parish, 26 Emerson Avenue, Hampstead. Burial will follow in the West Hampstead Cemetery, Hampstead. Friends may call on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry.
