Robert G. “Bob” Maybie, 69, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Saturday, August 25, 2012, at Phoebe Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held at 4 P.M., Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with Joseph Maybie officiating. Interment will follow in Lawrence Cemetery, Tift County. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Monday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Maybie was born December 12, 1942 in Erie, Pennsylvania to the late Robert Burton Maybie and Dorothy Mae Davis Maybie Fleischman. He served in the United States Army Reserve for six years. Mr. Maybie was a public utilities contractor for Four Points and Marconi, specializing in communications. He had lived in Fitzgerald for the past 22 years, coming from Tampa, Florida. He was a member of Snowden Road Holiness Church, where he served as pastor to the congregation.
He is survived by his wife of almost 48 years: Patricia Ann Stephens Maybie; sons and daughters-in-law: Donald Gerald Maybie, Joseph Maybie & Janet, Douglas Keith Maybie & Becky, and G. Alex Maybie & Christy, all of Fitzgerald; 19 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; a brother: Ronald Shaulis of Arlington, Texas, and a sister: Carolyn Cherocci of Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son: Robert G. “Bobby” Maybie, Jr. and a brother: Johnny Fleischman.
