Kathleen M. (Graney) Petersen,63, a lifelong resident of Norton, passed away surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, August 24, 2012 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.
She was the beloved wife of Thomas J. Petersen, Sr. to whom she was wed on September 6, 1969.
Born in Attleboro, MA on February 17, 1949 she was a dear daughter of the late Edward C., Sr. and Lorraine A. (Hall) Graney.
Kathy grew up in Norton and was a graduate of Norton High School. Prior to retiring, she had been employed for 19 years as a secretary for the Town of Norton, in the Assessors Department.
A lifelong communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton, Mrs. Petersen enjoyed raising her family and was extremely proud of her children. She especially treasured the times spent with her adoring grandchildren. Kathy’s hobbies included playing cards and she also enjoyed traveling.
In addition to her beloved husband of nearly 43 years, she is survived by her loving children. Thomas J. Petersen, Jr. and his wife Michelle of Norton, Kimberly M. Palker of Rochester and Kelli L. Johansen and her husband Edward of Taunton. The devoted sister of Patricia A. Graney and Betty L. Burrece both of Michigan and the late Edward C. Graney, Jr., she is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Nicholas and Matthew Petersen, Joel and Brian Palker and Jacob, Kyle and Emily Johansen, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday August 27th at 9:00 A.M. from the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will follow in the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday August 26th from 5-8 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Kathy’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Community VNA, 10 Emory St., Attleboro, MA 02703.
