Obituary

CHICOPEE – John B. Boggia, 89, a former resident of the Fairhaven Apartments at 400 Britton Street in the Fairview section of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, August 21, 2012. He passed into Eternal Life at Holyoke Medical Center surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving daughter, Lynda. He was born in Southington, Connecticut on February 12, 1923, a beloved son of the late Vincent and Immaculata (DiCaprio) Boggia. He was raised in Southington, graduated from Lewis High School and later moved to Hartford, Connecticut where he lived until moving to Chicopee in 2003. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II and attained the rank of Private. He was employed as a truck driver for several companies and had last worked for the M & M Produce Company in Hartford, Connecticut. While living in Hartford, he was a communicant of Saint Luke’s Catholic Church. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary A. (Gesimundo) Boggia who was Called Home on February 27, 2001. He leaves his loving daughter, Lynda I. Boggia and her friend, Jeoffrey Kelly along with his children, Noel and Alexandre Kelly, all of Chicopee; his brother, Antonio Boggia of Florida; his sisters, Louisa Boggia of Texas and Mary Boggia of Florida; and several nephews and nieces. All arrangements are private at the convenience of his family. There are no visiting hours. His arrangements have been entrusted to the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
