Frank “Jack LaRue” Gioia, died Tuesday at home, after a brief illness. He was 82.
Mr. Gioia was born and raised in Boston’s North End, the son of the late Peter and the late Pauline (Messina) Gioia. Mr. Gioia was a long-time resident of the North End and lived in Medford for many years. Until his retirement Frank worked in the fishing industry.
He is survived by his wife Nancy (DiBella) Gioia, his daughter Virginia “Ginny” Gioia of Woburn, his son Francis Gioia and his wife Bonnie of Lowell. Frank leaves his grandchildren Michael and Liana. He was the brother of Michael Gioia, Andrew Gioia, Mary Sullivan all of Medford, Joseph Gioia of the North End and the late Philip Gioia. He also leaves many loving nieces, nephews great nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives may visit Thursday 2- 4 & 7 - 9 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford.A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered in Sacred Heart Church, Boston, with the Rev. Vincenzo Rosato celebrant, Friday at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Frank´s name to St. John School, 9 Moon Street, Boston, MA 02113.
