Mr. James J. Marsh, a fifty year resident of Wilmington passed away sudden and unexpectedly on August 16th, at the age of 78. He was the beloved husband of the late Laure - Helene (Bruneau). Born in Tewksbury on June 7, 1934 he was the son of the late Walter and Helena (Matthews) Marsh.
James was a 1952 graduate of Tewksbury High School and shortly after graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he honorably served his country, and was a proud veteran of the Korean War. Following his return to civilian life, he began his career as a talented machinist for the next forty years. He retired from PRI of Billerica after many years of dedicated and faithful employment.
James enjoyed playing cards, whether playing hearts on his computer or playing crib and spades with family. He also looked forward to the annual Wilmington Fun on the Fourth festivities when he would get to see many friends and families having a goodtime together.
James is survived by his children, Karen Pelletier and her husband Thomas of Dracut, James J. Marsh Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Carl Junction, MO. He was the loving grandfather of Drew, Ashley, and Alex Marsh. He is also survived by his sister, Jackie Murry of South Carolina, and his dear brother-in-law, Bernard Bruneau,several nieces and nephews and was known as "Grandpa Marsh" to many extended family members.
In addition to his late wife and parents, James is predeceased by his sisters, Rose McGrath, Pat Farell and Margaret Reid
Visiting hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 374 Main St., WILMINGTON, will be held on, Wednesday, August 22nd, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. with a prayer service starting at 7:30 p.m. and concluding with military honors. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment services will be private. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in James’ memory to the Abundant Life Church, 173 Church St. Wilmington, MA 01887.
