Jean A. (Mirling) Hanitsch age 84, of Brockton died Saturday August 18, 2012 surrounded by her family at Good Samaritan Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the loving wife for 59 years of the late Robert Hanitsch. Jean was born in Brockton a daughter of the late Sanford and Adele (Holland) Mirling and remained a lifelong resident of the city.
Following her graduation from Brockton High School, she worked at the Brockton Airport where she met her husband. For many years Jean was a kindergarten teacher at St. Paul Episcopal Church, Brockton where she was also involved with many church activities. She loved music especially playing the organ and piano and also reading and dark chocolate. Jean will be remembered for her devotion to children, animals and her church but most importantly to her family.
Jean was the mother of Judy Yelle and her husband Robert of Ohio, Lynne Springer and Vicki Hanitsch both of Brockton and the grandmother of Robert and Michelle Springer and Torri Schneller. She also leaves 3 great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday 5-8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 10 am followed by burial in Melrose Cemetery.
