Helen Hall Petty Chafin, 70, of Live Oak, Florida, formerly of Tifton, died Sunday, August 19, 2012, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2012, at Zion Hope Baptist Church. Dr. Michael Petty and Rev. Ronnie Howell will officiate with burial to follow in Zion Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Randall Scott Petty, Lane Petty, Hank Petty, Allen Corbin, Allen Hall and Travis Grantham will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 23, 2012, one hour prior to the service, at Zion Hope Baptist Church. Attendees are asked to dress in casual clothes.
Mrs. Chafin was born on September 10, 1941 in Tift County and was the daughter of Nathan E. Hall and Sarah Barnes Hall, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, L. B. Chafin, Jr.; a brother, John Earl Hall; and one grandson, Richard Petty. She attended Ty Ty school and was the founder and owner of Twice Selected Clothing Store. She was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Chafin is survived by two sons, Randall Petty and Michael Petty; one daughter, Teresa Petty; two brothers, Nathan Eugene Hall and Davis Hall; two sisters, Shirley Smith and Martha Robinson; five grandchildren, Randall Scott Petty, Mallory P. Corbin, Hank Petty, Travis Thompson and Nolan Thompson; and five great-grandchildren, Lane Petty, Randall Petty, Bo Corbin, Laurabeth Corbin and Charli Thompson.
