Robert L. Simmons, 82, of Fairhaven, formerly of Westport died Friday, August 17, 2012 at Alden Court Nursing Home.
Born in Westport, son of the late Harold K. and Violet (Lewis) Simmons, he had lived in Westport for most of his life. Prior to retirement, he was a foreman for Insulation and Roofing, Inc. in New Bedford. A veteran of the Korean War, he served his country in the United States Army. An avid fox hunter and lover of fox hounds, he enjoyed taking fox hounds to the field trials to compete.
He was brother of the late Anna Pettey and Harold K. Simmons, Jr.
Graveside service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Rural Cemetery, New Bedford at 10:00 A.M.
