Thomas Joseph Murphy, 79, a lifelong resident of Lawrence, MA, died on Friday, August 17, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on June 28, 1933 in Lawrence, Massachusetts to John J. and Alice E. (Williams) Murphy, He was a graduate of Lawrence High School class of 1952. After high school he served in the United States Navy for four years. After having served in the Navy he worked for 10 years at Converse Rubber Company in Andover, MA. He then became a Lawrence Fire Fighter and worked for 19 years until his retirement. He was a life long member to: The Lawrence Lodge of Elks BPOE #65 and the Reliefs Inn in Lawrence. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and his sons.
He is the husband of Virginia J. (Ervin) Murphy and his four children: daughter; Brenda and her husband George Mottram of Moultonboro, NH, son; Walter Murphy and his wife Cindy of New Hampshire, David Murphy of Lowell; and Thomas and his wife Doreen of Lawrence, MA. As well as 7 grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters and 1 great grandson.
Friends may call on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 from 3:00PM to 5:00PM and to follow a funeral service will be held promptly at 5:00PM at the funeral home. A burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery on Thursday, August 23, 2012 friends and family are invited to report here at the funeral home at 9:00AM and then a procession at 10:00AM to the Elmwood Cemetery.
