Helen F. McFarland, 81, of Chester, NH, died Friday August 17, 2012 in Aurora Senior Living in Derry, NH. She was born in Chester on January 2, 1931, a daughter of the late Roger and Bertha (Morse) Edwards, and had been a lifelong resident of Chester. Mrs. McFarland had been employed for Klev-Bro Shoe Co. in Derry and the Derry Shoe Co. She had also worked for the Hanover Hill Nursing Home in Manchester, NH, and the Birchwood Nursing Home in Derry. Mrs. McFarland was involved with the American Legion Ladie's Auxillary in Chester. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was an avid Yahtzee player.
She is survived by four daughters, Be Sanville of Starks, ME, Donna Berube of Raymond, NH, Vicki Ventura of Derry, and Penny Desaulniers of Hooksett, NH; three sons, Roger McFarland of Chester, Leon McFarland, Jr. of Derry, and Tony McFarland of Chester; 18 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren; one brother, Frank Edwards of Bedford, NH; and one sister, Ruth Jacques of Dover, NH. She was predeceased by her husband Leon McFarland, Sr. in 1983.
Calling hours were held on Tuesday, August 21st from 6 - 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A graveside service was held on Wednesday at 10:00am in the Chester Village Cemetery in Chester.
