Elizabeth A. “Betty” (Connors) Sparicio passed away peacefully on July 16, 2012 in San Luis Obispo, CA. She is pre-deceased by her parents, Howard and Lillian Connors of Winthrop, MA. Betty grew up in Winthrop and attended Salem State Teacher’s College where, in addition to having been the president of the Social Club, she played basketball and tennis. After graduation she taught in the Newton school system prior to starting her family. Betty and her former husband Frank raised their family in Simsbury, CT. She was active in the community, leading the local Girl Scout troop, teaching religious education and volunteering for the PTA. She later settled in San Luis Obispo, CA. where she combined her love of the arts and volunteering by ushering at the Performing Arts Center for over 10 years. Her happiest times were those spent dancing. If there were music and a dance floor, Betty would be there in a colorful outfit with a lilt in her step and a smile on her face. Betty is survived by her brother Robert “Bob” and his wife Pat of Winthrop; her former husband, Frank of FL. Her three children Paula Rocco and her husband Thomas of West Roxbury; F. Joseph Sparicio, Jr. and his wife Mary Kay of Natick; Carol Bych and her husband Ken of San Luis Obispo, CA. Five grandchildren- Margaret and Elizabeth Sparicio and Garrett, Marissa and Brendan Bych. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 AM on Saturday, August 25th at St. John the Evangelist Church 320 Winthrop St. Winthrop MA. Burial to follow at Winthrop Cemetery.
