BEVERLY- John H. “Jack” Donahue, 86, husband of the late Martha B. (Pszenny) Donahue, of Beverly, formerly of Salem, died Friday morning, May 14, 2004 at the Rosewood Nursing Home in Peabody, following a long illness.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late John H. Donahue Sr. and Marion E. (Osgood) Donahue. He attended Salem schools and was a 1935 graduate of Salem High School.
A veteran of WWII, he served in the Navy and attained the rating of Aviation Radioman Second Class.
Prior to his retirement in the mid 1980's, he was employed for many years as a salesman for Price Brothers in Charlestown, which later became Branded Liquors and was located in Westwood. For many years was an auctioneer for L. A. Landry in Essex.
A resident of Beverly for the past 35 years, Mr. Donahue was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by one sister-in-law, Hyacinth (Pszenny) Dobbs of Danvers, eight nieces and nephews, Natalie Fuller of San Juan Capistrano, CA, William Volmer of Naples, Florida, Paul Dobbs of Dorchester, Barbara Robinson of Peabody, Dorothy Jalbert of Danvers, Kevin Donahue of Alpharetta, GA, Michael Donahue of Cary, NC, Kathleen Thibaudeau of Manchester, NH, and several grand and great grand nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Edward, William and Arthur Donahue.
His funeral service will be held Saturday, May 22, 2004 at 9 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 am at St. Mary Star of The Sea Church, Cabot St., Beverly. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. There are no visiting hours. Burial is in Wenham Cemetery.
