SPRINGFIELD – Selma “Sally” (Salame-Salem) Sileski, 99, of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Monday, August 13, 2012. She passed into Eternal Life from her home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her caregivers. She was born in Easthampton on March 18, 1913, a beloved daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Anbar) Salame. She was raised in Easthampton and moved to Springfield around 1936. Sally was employed for many years in the family business as an office manager and bookkeeper for the Sam Salem Furniture Company in West Springfield. She was a communicant of Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Springfield and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bruno Sileski who was Called Home on June 19, 1985. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by: her dear brothers, George, Joseph, Edward, Frank, James and Samuel Salem; and her dear sister, Nicky Goodnough. She leaves many dear nephews and nieces including her nephew and caregiver, Alan Salem, and his wife, Joan. Her funeral will be held on Saturday morning, August 18, 2012, beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. in Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 2320 Main Street, Springfield, MA 01107. Her burial will follow the service at Fairview Cemetery, Abbey Memorial Drive, Chicopee, MA 01013. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday morning, August 18, 2012, from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. before the service. Her family has requested that memorial donations in her memory be made to either the Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104 or to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
